2022 Mi Sueño Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Tio Antonio
Downloads
Crafted in honor of Rolando's Uncle Antonio, the Mi Sueño 2020 Tío Antonio Cabernet Sauvignon is bold and expressive, with remarkable warmth and depth. Winemaker Rolando proudly pays tribute to the time spent alongside this strong, kind, and hardworking man.
VINEYARD
The 2021 vintage in Sonoma Valley was truly exceptional, producing wines with remarkable depth, power, vibrant acidity, and a well-defined tannin structure. It's a standout year for both wine enthusiasts and collectors alike. Sourced from a small parcel nestled along the Mayacamas, this distinctive, terraced vineyard thrives thanks to its unique microclimate, which allows for extended hang time and even ripening, resulting in intense, concentrated flavors. The fruit, with small berries and thick skins, flourishes in this long growing season, capturing the essence of the region's terroir. Much like the man for whom it’s named, Tio Antonio is bold, with an undeniable presence; generous, hearty, and unforgettable.
CELLAR
Hand-harvested in stages between early and mid-October, each batch was gently pressed and racked before aging for 21 months in 70% new French oak barrels under Rolando’s exacting care.
GLASS
This garnet, dark ruby wine displays the iconic Mi Sueño red hue that our wines are known for. The nose is rich with aromas of black currant, tomato leaf, fig, toasted oak, raspberry jam, cedar, coffee, and wet earth. On the palate, the wine impresses with pronounced minerality and well-integrated tannins, leading to a prolonged finish that reveals layers of forest fruit, cassis, and black olives, with subtle hints of mocha and molasses.
TABLE
Wonderful paired with medium rare ribeye with mushroom sauce and grilled veggies. Or enjoy with Fillet mignon and duck fat potatoes.
CRITIC PRAISE
"Crafted in honour of owner Rolando Herrera’s Uncle Antonio, who was tall, strong, and tough; and whose personality the wine seems to echo—the Tío Antonio bottling is bold and expressive, with warmth and depth. The source site features abundant red soils and rock, which come through in the wine as a red-toned mineral character interlaced with juicy, plump, and generous red-berry fruit in 2022. Soft, rounded tannins make this an especially easy-drinking vintage. You will want several bottles on hand, as it is likely to disappear quickly, and rightly so. Drink now and enjoy frequently over the next five to seven years. Aged for 21 months in 70% new French oak." 94 Points, Decanter
"Aromas of black fruit and dark cherries with layers of plum skin, cedar, dried herbs, graphite and spices. The full-bodied palate offers firmly framed tannins and bright acidity, lending a balanced feel with a savory, fruit-driven finish." 92 Points, James Suckling
