Situated amidst the rustic beauty and diverse microclimates, at the top of the famous Mt. Veeder AVA, this hillside vineyard sits at 900 to 1,200 feet, depending on where you are. The gravel, clay, rocky soil and the great sun exposure make this a unique and complex wine.
VINEYARD
The 2022 grape growing season on Mount Veeder was defined by a major September heatwave that forced a rapid, compressed harvest. Fortunately, a sudden cool-down and some rain followed, allowing later-ripening grapes to hang longer and achieve excellent balance. This unique weather pattern resulted in a highly-regarded red wine vintage with concentrated flavors, refined tannins, and a distinct mountain character.
CELLAR
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon spent 5 to 7 days in a cold soak to intensify the mountain fruit characteristics and then was fermented for 25 days in stainless steel tanks. Aged in 70% new French oak for 22 months, it was racked barrel-to-barrel and bottled unfiltered. This extremely age-worthy wine will evolve gradually over the next 20+ years.
GLASS
Bold and captivating, the Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon pours a stunning inky black that clings to the glass. The nose is immediately enticing, lifting notes of exotic hibiscus and lavender, beautifully layered with dark plum and savory anise. The journey across the palate is seamless, delivering luscious flavors of ripe blueberry and red licorice.
