STARTING IN THE
VINEYARD
The 2022 growing season was a challenging vintage defined by a severe Labor Day heatwave. While a cool, temperate summer led to steady ripening, the heat compressed the harvest. Our Mt Veeder property does a fantastic job at showcasing its pursuit of greatness. The best wines from this vintage show good structure and fresh acidity. This "tale of two harvests" required exceptional vineyard management, but the resulting wines often possess a great sense of purity and balance despite the hurdles.
TO THE
CELLAR
The grapes were meticulously hand-sorted and initially cold-soaked for 4 to 7 days before fermentation on the skins. This gentle and natural process ensures that we capture the maximum amount of flavor and color that Mother Nature bestowed upon the season. After pressing, the grapes were transferred to 100% new French oak barrels for 28 months. The wine was further refined through extended bottle aging, resulting in a wine with excellent mouthfeel and structure that is as radiant and captivating as its namesake.
IN YOUR
GLASS
Displaying an intense, bright and lively violet color, the wine starts out a little coy, with gentle aromas of violets, oak, cigar box, with notes of cherry pie and a hint of vanilla. On the palate the wines’ arrival is noted by its great structure, bright acidity and supple tannins. Floral, rich and elegant with harmonious flavors of violets, lavender, black cherry and chocolate truffles, the wine’s finish is generous, long lasting and extremely gratifying.
ON YOUR
TABLE
Valeria Petit Verdot is complex and playful, offering so many delicious pairings. Try with Korean sticky ribs, or for those with a sweeter tooth, enjoy with some dark chocolate and dried cranberries.
