2021 Mi Sueño Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
Situated amidst the rustic beauty and diverse microclimates, at the top of the famous Mt. Veeder AVA, this hillside vineyard sits at 900 to 1,200 feet depending on where you are. The gravel, clay, rocky soil and the great sun exposure make this a unique and complex wine.
VINEYARD
The 2021 growing season started with very little rain, leading to the second year of drought conditions in Napa Valley. The long, warm summer saw few extreme heat waves, and the foggy mornings set the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The drought of 2021 resulted in a more natural load on the vines, requiring less pruning and dropping of fruit. The resulting grapes are packed full of flavor thanks to smaller yields per vine. In addition, smaller berry size will result in another amazing vintage from Napa Valley.
CELLAR
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon spent 5 to 7 days in a cold soak to intensify the mountain fruit characteristics, and then was fermented for 25 days in stainless steel tanks. Aged in 70% new French oak for 22 months, it was racked barrel-to-barrel and bottled unfiltered. This extremely age-worthy wine will evolve gradually over the next 20+ years.
GLASS
This Mi Sueño rich, inky pitch-black beautiful color grabs your attention. Aromas of molasses, maraschino cherries, tomato leaf, anise, lavender, fresh forest, and dried plum adding to the suspense. On the plate, you will find juicy blueberries, red licorice, with mouthwatering structure and a finish of cocoa, leather, and a pepper corn finish.
TABLE
This wine screams out for an Omaha Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes, or a slice of German chocolate cake. Both will leave you immensely satisfied.
CRITIC PRAISE
"Mi Sueno's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Lynne's Vineyard comes from a 6.5-acre site on Mount Veeder, situated between 900 and 1,200 feet above sea level. Hints of bay leaf and mint accent black cherries and blackberries in this medium- to full-bodied wine. It's supple, ripe and almost creamy in feel, a lush offering that's ready to drink now and over the next decade." – The Wine Advocate
