Vineyard Notes
The 2020 vintage in Russian River was remarkably challenging due to what seemed like an endless loop of devastating fires. However, when fire broke out, it had already been a spectacular growing season. Luckily, the harvest was one of the earliest on record, and the fruit was of exceptional quality, rich, and vibrant, with almost zero sorting. While production was down, the vintage was one of the finest ever for Pinot Noir.
The combination of the Swan & Calera clone is notorious for small, tight clusters, and produce very low yields. Rolando calls these a farmer’s nightmare and a winemaker’s dream, as they produce intense aromatics and deep concentration.
		Production Notes
The grapes are destemmed and fermented in chilled steel tanks to preserve the fresh fruit and rich flavors. The incredible color and ripe tannins come from 25 days of skin contact followed by natural fermentation.
		Tasting Notes
A rich and vibrant burgundy color. The aromas jump out of the glass with intense raspberry, dried cranberry, wet clean earth, currants, lavender, and vanilla. The palate explodes with flirtatious ripe cherry, plum, licorice, vanilla, and pomegranate. The mouth-watering acidity and well-integrated soft tannins lead to a long and amazing finish that makes your palate want more.
		Food Pairing Notes
While this Pinot Noir might pair well with a myriad of dishes the essential pairing with be with local restaurant Bistro Don Giovanni’s Red Ravioli with Pecorino, Ricotta & Tomato Sauce.
