Vineyard Notes
The 2020 season will be remembered for factors beyond the normal measurements. It was a warm, dry winter and we didn’t start to see rain and cold weather until the end of March. The mild spring turned into a perfect summer, which brought very cool mornings and very warm days--ideal for the grapes. This build-up to harvest was interrupted by wildfires. Luckily for Mi Sueño the grapes were not affected, though production was incredibly small. While the 2020 harvest proved to be one of the challenging, the hard work paid off and the vintage is nothing but exceptional.
Production Notes
Hand harvested, at the coolest hours of night, the grapes were skillfully sorted in the vineyard, and lastly returned to the cellar, where they were racked into 75 percent new French oak barrels and aged for 22 months prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes
Intense inky and almost black in color, with complex aromas of pencil lead, black plums, black currants, cocoa nibs, toasted vanilla, and subtle inviting hints of violet. On entrance, the wine is full of structure and showcases, rich supple tannins dominated by flavors of rich dark chocolate, cherry, plum, sweet cherry oak, leather and so much more. It’s velvety, mouthcoating, and teeth staining Cabernet!
Food Pairing Notes
If you want to pair it perfectly, try local Napa restaurant Cole’s Chophouse’s Provimi Veal Chops with Sautéed Mushrooms, Garlic, Shallots, Red wine Veal Reduction and Truffle Oil.
