Vineyard Notes
Rolando began producing Syrah in 2013 for his own personal enjoyment. Syrah may be able to grow in more areas than most grapes, but Syrah really takes on its enviornment. The Napa Valley has a long ripening season, low humidity, diurnal temperatures, and lots of warm sunshine. The perfect growing conditions for Rolando to craft a one of a kind Syrah.
Production Notes
To mellow the tannins, enhance complexity, and enrich the already generous body of the wine, it was aged for 22 months in 60% new French oak barrels. This process introduces captivating hints of vanilla and spice from the barrels that perfectly complement the wine’s intense exotic red fruit notes.
Tasting Notes
The wine greets the senses with an explosion of intense aromas including dried fig, white pepper, sage, exotic red fruit, and subtle undertones of wet stone and coffee bean. Upon tasting, the ripe strawberry, cherry, and dragon fruit flavors are complemented by a pleasant minerality and subtle hints of sweet oak. Masculine tannins provide a strong backbone, leading to a lingering finish that improves with aging, leaving one eager for the next sip.
Food Pairing Notes
While it will go well with a Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb or something simple as a Cheese Steak, the ultimate pairing is Spicy Red Pork Pozole.
