Vineyard Notes
The 2020 season will be remembered for factors beyond the normal measurements. It was a warm, dry winter and we didn’t start to see rain and cold weather until the end of March. The mild spring turned to a perfect summer, which brought very cool mornings and very warm days--ideal for the grapes. This build-up to harvest was interrupted by wildfires. Luckily for Mi Sueño the grapes were not affected, though production was incredibly small. While the 2020 harvest proved to be one of the challenging, the hard work paid off and the vintage is nothing but exceptional.
Production Notes
A proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, and a kiss of Petit Verdot, the grapes are chosen from three of our estate vineyards located in Coombsville, Oak Knoll, and Mt. Veeder. The wine is aged 21 months in barrel and consists of 35% new French oak and 20% new American oak.
Tasting Notes
The dark red velvet color is deep and intense. The aromas burst forth with graphite, red currants, sweet vanilla, leather, toasty oak, licorice, and guava peel. In classic El Llano style, the palate confirms the aromas with red currant, cassis, framboise, vanilla bean, and maple. The silky tannins are well-integrated and mouthwatering and lead to an extensive and long finish.
Food Pairing Notes
This incredibly food-friendly wine pairs with so many great dishes. Try it with your favorite pasta, or for a true gastronomic experience, pair it with Braised Pork Ribs in a Caramel Sauce.
