Vineyard Notes
The 2020 growing season started out with copious rainfall. The long, warm summer saw few extreme heat waves, and the foggy mornings set the stage for vibrant and expressive wines and the long mild late summer helped preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit. All in all, exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture created yet another amazing vintage.
Production Notes
Sourced from Oak Knoll and Coombsville AVAs, both prized for their moderate climates and cooling daily breezes, the grapes benefit from a long, slow ripening season that preserves freshness and aromatics. Coombsville, Napa’s newest AVA, is particularly renowned for its volcanic ash soils and steady, cool temperatures, contributing elegance, structure, and a refined mouthfeel through extended hang-time. Together, these appellations create a beautifully balanced wine with exceptional structure and impressive aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Deep and inky, with the signature Mi Sueño hue, La Chole opens with a captivating bouquet of black forest fruits, ripe plum, dried fig, and caramel, accented by earthy notes of wet soil and wild mushroom. On the palate, it’s velvety and mouthcoating, offering generous flavors of pomegranate and raspberry. Plush yet balanced, the wine reveals subtle hints of warm spice, and a whisper of dark chocolate that dance across the mid-palate. Fine, polished tannins provide structure and grace, leaving a lingering echo of complexity and depth.
Food Pairing Notes
Elegant by the glass, La Chole is a beautiful pairing for mushroom risotto topped with fire-roasted cherry tomatoes. The wine’s depth and velvety texture complement the earthy richness of the dish, while its vibrant fruit notes echo the sweet, smoky character of the tomatoes.
