Vineyard Notes
The 2019 growing season started out with copious rainfall. The long, warm summer saw few extreme heat waves, and the foggy mornings set the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long mild late summer helped preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit. All in all, exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture created yet another amazing vintage.
Production Notes
The wine is aged for 22 months in 65% new French oak. It spends an additional year in the bottle before its release which makes this wine enjoyable right out of the gate--yet it can age for decades.
Tasting Notes
The deep, inky, and intense garnet hue entices your eyes and leads your nose to generous aromas of graphite, dark ripe cherry, cassis, anise, vanilla bean, molasses, dark chocolate, and wet clean earth. Upon the entry, rich dark cherry, blackberry, plum, ripe raspberry, and sweet oak awe the palate. The round, luscious texture of this wine coats your palate with a velvety texture, mouthwatering acidity, and finishes with well-integrated tannins that seem to last for 25+ seconds.
Food Pairing Notes
This very versatile wine pairs remarkable well with many dishes but try it with Garlic-Crusted Roast Rack of Lamb and your palate will thank you.
