Vineyard Notes
The 2015 vintage was unseasonably warm, late winter and spring,
which led to early bud-break. In May a cold snap destroyed many of
the flowers from bud break which led to shatter (uneven fruit set).
Rainfall in Napa Valley was 75% of volume we usually see, and these
factors amounted to a very early harvest of remarkably low yields
but very high quality. Lorena is comprised of the best fruit from our
Coombsville and Oak Knoll vineyards.
Production Notes
This proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit
Verdot was patiently aged in our cellars in 100% New French oak for
30 months in separate lots before being blended to perfection prior
to bottling for your enjoyment.
Tasting Notes
At first glance you will notice the black-crimson color. Aromas of
currant, black cherry, fine leather, cocoa, and a hint of tobacco tempt
the senses. On the palette, the wine reveals matching deep flavors of
blackberry pie, black cherry, fig, more cocoa, and notes of anise and
graphite minerality. The acidity is well integrated, and the texture is
rich and multi-layered.
Food Pairing Notes
This delicious wine will be the star of the show on any dinner table.
Enjoy it with lamb chops in blackberry sauce or Szechuan beef with
5-spice seasoning to complement the anise notes. Or simply pour a
glass and enjoy its decadence by a cozy fireplace.
