STARTING IN THE VINEYARD
2017 brought recovery from years of drought as the season began with welcome rainfall that refilled reservoirs and rejuvenated soils. A mild spring was followed by a heat wave in late August and early September, which marked the start of harvest. The wines in 2017 are known for “great complexity of flavor” and “finesse.” A truly great vintage for Cabernet lovers.
TO THE CELLAR
Aged for an incredible 40 months in 100% new French oak that is air dried for 36 months, this wine was bottle aged for an additional two years. The Coombsville vineyards that mainly go into Rebecca and Rolando Jr. were used along with the Mt. Veeder Estate Vineyard.
IN YOUR GLASS
This wine explodes with rich, intense, dark purple hue that reveals the power of what is to come. The aromas entice the palate with layers of violets, rich vanilla, cassis, cherry, espresso, sassafras, and dried figs. The first sip reveals dark cherry, sweet vanilla, dried figs, ripe raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, and molasses. The silky, velvet, and chewy tannins lead to an incredibly long finish. It makes you thirst for more...this is what Cabernet Sauvignon should be!
