Vineyard Notes
The 2014 growing year was the third in a series of picture-perfect vintages. It was just a bit cooler and drier than the prior vintages which concentrated the flavors of the grapes. Being the first year of subsequent drought conditions, veraison and harvest came early, but the fruit was of pristine quality with plenty of hangtime to develop the flavors we seek in our wines.
Production Notes
Eighteen days of skin contact via cold-soak extracted the rich color and fruit flavors. Ten months of French oak aging mellowed the tannins and enriched the structure and mouthfeel and lead to a long, silky finish.
Tasting Notes
Our Los Carneros Pinot Noir shines with a translucent bright ruby color. The nose is redolent of cherry pie and clove with a hint of wet earth that Pinot is notorious for. In the mouth, rich flavors of baked plum tart, pomegranate and dark cherries shine with bright acidity and soft tannins. The finish lingers just enough to keep you coming back for another sip.
Food Pairing Notes
The soft richness of our Pinot would be equally great with a lamb tagine or cedar-planked salmon with a cherry cola reduction. If you’re throwing a Latin party, pollo asado with all the fixings would be a perfect match!
