Vineyard Notes
Our Castiglioni Vineyard is located in the southwest corner of the Russian River Valley, near the town of Sebastopol. This vineyard yields small crops of concentrated fruit. The area’s warm days allow grapes to achieve ripen evenly and fully, and its limestone soil brings brightness and minerality to the fruit and the resulting wine.
Production Notes
From bud-break to harvest, near-perfect conditions resulted in fruit of optimal ripeness, balance, and quality. The 2012 vintage is being heralded as one of Sonoma’s best.
Tasting Notes
This wine’s deep ruby color is a sign of the concentrated aromas and flavors to come. Classic Pinot Noir aromas of rose, raspberry, and cranberry are complemented by pomegranate, rose petals, caramelized sugar, smoke, and a hint of clean earth. More beautiful, dark berry flavors follow, with notes of plum, vanilla, toasted oak, and leather. This beautifully balanced wine has a silky entry and a lingering finish.
Food Pairing Notes
Carnitas, grilled salmon, wild mushroom ravioli, dark chocolate mousse.
